Vanilla Ice — one of the remaining performers scheduled to appear at the Trump-backed Freedom 250 festival The Great American State Fair — didn’t end up performing due to weather.
Just two hours before the “Ice Ice Baby” rapper was set to take the stage for an “I Love the 90s” concert, organizers called-off the show due to unsafe weather conditions.
”The safety of our guests, staff, and partners remains our top priority,” Freedom 250 said in a statement. “We are actively monitoring conditions and will provide updates as they become available.”
Right after The Great American State Fair was announced, performers began to fall-off the lineup, citing political concerns. Fab Morvan of Milli Vanilli was the latest to exit the Fair earlier this month, following suit of Morris Day and The Time, Young MC, The Commodores, Martina McBride, and Bret Michaels. C+C Music Factory’s appearance at the event remains in question, as does Flo Rida, who has not commented on any of the recent cancellations at this time.
Vanilla Ice defended his name on the bill, noting that his performance wasn’t about politics, but rather about bringing people together through music. While his set was ultimately canclled, he had planned to be joined by 15-foot Autobots from the Transformers franchise, as well as all four Ninja Turtles.
The 16-date Great American State Fair, meant to celebrate America’s semiquincentennial celebration, began at Washington, D.C.‘a national mall on June 24. While nearly all the acts dropped-off the lineup, Trump stepped-up and opened the celebration with a political rally.
