English comedian and actor Catherine Tate will take over the title role in Cole Escola’s hit comedy “Oh, Mary!” during its West End engagement at London’s Trafalgar Theatre.
Tate, best known for “The Catherine Tate Show,” begins performances April 27 and will continue through July 18. She succeeds original West End star Mason Alexander Park, who plays their final performance April 25.
The production will also see a change in the role of Mary’s Husband. Giles Terera concludes his run March 14, with Scott Karim stepping into the role beginning March 16. Continuing cast members include Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, and Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher.
Directed by Tony Award winner Sam Pinkleton, “Oh, Mary!” reimagines Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. Through Cole Escola’s lens, Mary is depicted as a cabaret-obsessed alcoholic navigating personal and political turmoil.

The comedy premiered Off-Broadway at the Lucille Lortel Theatre in 2024, where it was extended three times before transferring to Broadway. It earned two 2025 Tony Awards: Lead Actor in a Play for Escola and Director of a Play for Pinkleton.
The West End production opened December 18 and reunites Pinkleton with his Broadway creative team, including scenic designer dots, costume designer Holly Pierson, lighting designer Cha See, composer and co-sound designer Daniel Kluger, co-sound designer Drew Levy, wig designer Leah J. Loukas, and music arranger David Dabbon. U.K. casting is by Stuart Burt CDG.
The production is led by producers Kevin McCollum and Lucas McMahon, Mike Lavoie and Carlee Briglia, with executive producers Wessex Grove. “Oh, Mary!” continues its Broadway run while playing in London through summer 2026. Additionally, the play is gearing up for a North American national tour, scheduled to begin in fall 2026.
